About Emily

Emily Newland (she/her) is a proud Colombian-Jamaican actress guided by one central mission: to make people feel seen. Growing up as a military child across Europe and the United States, she was often the “new girl,” an experience that shaped her sensitivity to identity, belonging, and resilience; threads that ground her work on stage and screen.  Her credits include series regular roles on the pilots Youth Group (PureFlix) and Jo Super (CSUN), the lead in the workshop production of What It Iz (Geffen Playhouse), starring roles in UCLA’s A List of Happenings and I Swear to God, and the lead in Synthetic Hearts (NBCUniversal/USC). She has also appeared in SAG commercials, voiced several animated characters for television and film, and led multiple independent and MFA films. Emily approaches storytelling with honesty and heart, creating work that challenges perceptions, fosters empathy, and reminds audiences of our shared humanity.
